28th April saw the 3rd of the Inner City Pirates' gigs at Clwb Ifor Bach. Just M and I this time!
Different support acts again. First on were The Trouble With Me, who on first listening didn't particularly interest me, and I don't think the sound was set up right? Seemed to have mostly Manics influences, bit samey but I would rate their performance better than last month's Red City. After the set, this band handed out free copies of their 2005 EP, 'Young Knives EP'. Their standing has improved somewhat after listening to the CD, which had a much lighter sound than their live set. See their website/myspace for more information.
Main (advertised) support came from Matthew Monroe, who was hilarious! Just Monroe and his acoustic guitar. A little hard to describe his sound, singer-soungwriter is perhaps a bit vague, his songs were mainly highly amusing monologues set to music, titles I remember include Steven and Natalie. Unfortunately I cannot find a website, either searching myspace or google! Shall just have to keep searching until I find it!
The Inner City Pirates set - for which I remembered by studenty poster-swiping skills to land a copy of the set list - wasn't as good as last months, we think. All new songs (the last one listed on the set list, Whisper The Fear, was replaced by The Little Pills We Love. The set also felt shorter than last months? Which is a shame. There is still another show listed on their site, for 26th May, to which we shall endeavour to attend.
It seems at the moment I'm unable to upload my photos, so the set list in question was:
Locked In This Game
She's A Bastard
Pretty Disease
Roller Coaster
Go Now Go
Bang Bang
DeadMan
Calling To Say
Knock Me Up
Eat The Pain
Whisper The Fear (replaced as above by Little Pills We Love)
